   so far, as everyone probably knows, there are at least four new songs, and we only have footage of two of them.
   
   Pittsburgh

   so what do you think of them? what do you think the new album will be like? what are your thoughts, hopes, and dreams for this next record? when I first heard Pittsburgh I was really shocked and wasn't sure if I'd like it, but of course I love it now. and I loved Carol as soon as I heard her. she sounds just like Franz!
   
   I wonder how weird the title will be.K is a jerk, P is dreamy, D is steamy and Chris is respectable.

   Well, Chris' bass has always been sexy and I feel it was brought into play real sexy in "Dinosaur" and I'm noticing this in these two new songs as well. So I'm hoping that he really brings the sexy in the new album. Like another favorite band of mine is MuteMath and that band really made me take notice of how much more melodic the bass can be on songs rather than just this backbone that gets the song through and I know Chris has the power to do that considering past songs. I just want him to bring it bigger than what it's been before.
   
   Also, I feel WAS does a great job of changing it up. The WLAS surprisingly is very punk to me. Dance punk, but punky nonetheless. And I found BTM to be quite disco-y with the addition of synth and what not. Very funky. So maybe this time around, it'd be interesting if they went for more soulful. Still rockin' but soulful since we can see how well they do with a funky sound.
   
   Lyrics have always been great with WAS, it's just the waiting around for what kind of sound they'll take. Listening to "Pittsburgh" kind of reminded me of late 90s rock. I don't know why but the Verve and Semisonic quickly came to mind. So I instantly loved it. Who knows if they'll take the 90s alt rock path and have this new album be very Sonic Youth, Pixies, Elastica-like. Overall though, I'm super excited and I feel the boys can't go wrong. They've toured with tons of great bands and live in NYC where they can pick up a mishmash of influences. I know they've got this in the bag!!Check out my blog

   I don't have much time now to write as much as Miranda. but I agree with her. first of all: Chris' bass, of course. it/he has always been damn sexy with it. and I always wished for more bass parts. maybe we'll get them with the new album. agree on the "soulful" part very much. both songs sound deeper than WLAS and even BTM.
   
   I also loved Pittsburgh instantly. a familiar, warm feeling comes from it. it even has (probably unintentional) some elements of german dark-electro sound from the 90s in its instrumental parts, the bass and drums.(I know I said it often today) but I very, very much love the middle part from 2:34. beautiful. love Andy's drums and Keith's singing so so much.it's perfect. I don't know, maybe I can't be very objective, but I don't care. I don't think they will ever be able to write music I don't like.
   
   I love how different the new songs already sound to their previous stuff. to me it's very important that a band doesn't repeat themselves. and they definitely don't. YAY.

   what I want to add, Pittsburgh, even if I don't understand a word Keith is singing, has the quality to make me cry. I bet it will when I get to hear it properly recorded. *sigh* so pretty. I'm already moved by it. and the last guitar notes even remind me of my beloved Suede. I don't think it can get any better.I don't bite but you can't believe it -- "Carol"

    Fell in love with Pittsburgh instantly. The same goes for Carol! Carol kinda reminds me of Chick Lit in the way the chorus contrasts to the verses...I love it!

    Pittsburgh I can't hear well enough to make a proper judgement, but it sounds like a grower to me.
    Carol, however (love the name Adrian!) I loved after 20 seconds! I can't wait for the new album! And can already feel WAS creeping up on The Killers to reclaim the position of favourite band, as I knew they would as soon as the hype was back!

    I agree - "Carol" sounds very Franz - again not nec a bad thing... not sure about the other one, need to listen to it more / get a better recording, but it does sound interesting, can't wait to hear more new stuff.  I too am glad that they are going in different directions, nothing worse than a band that sticks to the same old sound time after time.  Shake it up a bit - you might loose some fans along the way but at least people won't get bored of your "sound".

    I'm about as close to making sense as I am ever going to get.....

    I really like Carol because it has an amazing bassline and tune to it and I've been listening to it more than Pittsburgh. But I bet that Pittsburgh is going to be amazing, I just wish I could hear it clearly thoughIf that is all you will be, you'll be a waste of time...

    Hi! I was just about to post the vids but they're already here. I have the new songs from the Northhampton show and I'm trying to get them uploaded too, I'm pretty sure they're better quality than the Cambridge ones...so hopefully they'll be up soon.
