He was so lovely to us that night. It was 1am, he'd done the show that night (plus fallen and broken wrist but of course we didn't know that then. Also we have the only official proof he hurt his wrist on June 21st not the 28th like he/Comedy Central kept saying) and then spent time writing the book and yet he still said hi and shook all our hands and posed for a photo. He's a great, great guy. I'd seen him tape the show a few days before and he answered my question too which was just amazing. He looked me right in the eyes as he answered it. *sigh* Plus me and my friends I made in queue got to touch the desk! What do you guys do? Are you a student, working a dream job or a crappy job?
I'm half-and-half. I work a crappy job at a museum part-time (even though I love museums, it sucks where I'm at) and I have a dream job as a freelance photographer. I've done a few shows and I used to write and photograph for a travel section for Jane Magazine before it went defunct and I've done a few photo shows. I'm hoping to quit the other job and be a "real" photographer. A girl can dream!Check out my blog
half and half - student with a crappy part time job.Bingle bongle dingle dangle yickety doo yickety daa ping pong lippy tappy too taa. :::::: I like to take photos
Half and half as well. I'm a student. I work at the cinema which has it positives - free films, great banter and negatives - shit pay, annoying customers, managers not respecting your availability. I am overworked and underpaid (I'm currently working weekends whilst uni is on and I'm averaging about 18 hours over 2 days a week!). My dream job is directing movies. I am bit more interested in TV direction these days, even musical video direction. I like gig photography too. But I really want to be the next Sam Mendes. I'm doing film and media at uni and hopefully going to intern at a movie studio in the summer of '10 to get my foot in the door."Like a drunken night, it's the best bits that are coloured in" Poke - Frightened Rabbit
What do you guys do? Are you a student, working a dream job or a crappy job?
I'm in a gap year, going to be a student again next year. I work in a bookshop three days a week which is enough for me at the moment. The shifts have gone pretty tits at the moment though. And I mean that in the pejorative. On the whole the customers are nice & polite (you get the odd one who wants to hit on you in a creepy way, or is drunk, or is just extremely rude) the staff I work with are diamonds and the job itself is pretty good. I just wouldnt want to do it for the rest of my life. Ideally I'd like to be involved in the music industry somehow, hopefully working for the music press. The secret ingredient is crime
Favorite Bands/Artists: Besides WAS- Spoon, The Decemberists, Muse, Jason Mraz, Editors, Franz Ferdinand, Sondre Lerche, The National, Morrissey, and lots more
Books: anything Anthony Bourdain writes, most Jane Austen books, some Frank McCourt, and Michael Cunningham. I'm currently reading Living Dead in Dallas from Charlaine Harris (book 2 from the series based on the TV show True Blood) which is not as good as the first one, and Lee Child's Die Trying.
Favorite TV Shows: Arrested Development (R.I.P.), Pushing Daisies (close to R.I.P., sadly), Heroes, Torchwood, Project Runway, Top Chef, Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother, America's Next Top Model (though it continues to get worse each cycle)
Favorite Movies: this changes often, but my favorite of the moment is Stranger than Fiction, and I'm a sucker for most movies that include Paul Rudd in it.
How did you first hear about We Are Scientists?: My friend Megan gave me a list of music to listen to, and insisted I look up WAS because of videos like NMNGH. Loved it, and 3 days later after looking them up we saw 'em do a small show in Hollywood, and the rest is history.
Oh and adding Miranda's question (btw, Miranda that's a cool job you had previously! I know freelance photography can be difficult to pursue so best of luck to you!) - What do you guys do? Are you a student, working a dream job or a crappy job? I'm a part time student with a full-time crappy job for a cruise line that makes me hate the elderly because they're mostly, lying, money-grubbing SOBs. Well, at least the ones I write and speak to every day. Gotta love customer service BS jobs. What's the Word - your next best resource for all news on We Are Scientists

Tapper) were sitting in a row signing autographs & I ran to the barrier to see them better. My mum wouldn't let me go see their set at V Fest because she wanted to see Keane for the 50 millionth time, but it was either Bloc Party or Editors that WAS made a guest appearance on their set, so I got to watch them then :) i've been hooked ever since. Although, I was about slow to realise they had a new album out. By the time I'd figured it out, I'd missed their UK tour!

cna I just be, like, a professional fan of WAS? that'd be great. I'd be really good at that.K is a jerk, P is dreamy, D is steamy and Chris is respectable.
My dream job would be a BUTTERFLYI WENT ON HOLIDAY & ASKED YOU TO TAPE MY HERO STARRING ARDAL O'HANLON, AND YOU FORGOT? WOAH MOMA WHEN I SEE YOU I'M GONNA WHOOP YOUR FAT ASS
oh, butterfly would be fantastic. or, a butterfly/pro-WAS fan. THAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER.
but honestly, I don't think the butterflies like WAS. I remember once I was listening to music outside, mostly be your own PET and WAS, and when I would put on WAS, bees would come, but when I put on byoP, butterflies would come.K is a jerk, P is dreamy, D is steamy and Chris is respectable.
I'd be a BUTTERFLY that likes WaS. I'd wear my was tee and everything. I'd be the coolest BUTTERFLY in all of the land. All of the other BUTTERFLIES would want to hang around with me, but i'd be like “no way , i'm a loner.” Yeah, thats what i'd beI WENT ON HOLIDAY & ASKED YOU TO TAPE MY HERO STARRING ARDAL O'HANLON, AND YOU FORGOT? WOAH MOMA WHEN I SEE YOU I'M GONNA WHOOP YOUR FAT ASS
i'd rather be one of the kittens on the WLaS cover...Bingle bongle dingle dangle yickety doo yickety daa ping pong lippy tappy too taa. :::::: I like to take photos
Name: Amanda. Where are you from?: Oregon Favorite Bands/Artists: The Killers, WAS, The Cribs, Franz Ferdinand, Queen, The Spinto Band Favorite song: Today, it's "This Is Your Life" - The Killers Books: Middlesex, The Great Gatsby, among others I can't think of. Favorite Television Shows: 30 Rock, Stella, ER, Law & Order: SVU, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, Oprah Favorite Movies: The Holiday, 61*, The Darjeeling Limited, Into The Wild, Elf, pretty much any Woody Allen movie, & most of Paul Rudd's movies. How did you first hear about We Are Scientists?: I don't remember. I think someone on my livejournal friends list mentioned them, so the next time I went to Tower Records I picked up their album with the bonus dvd of the making of It's A Hit. Claim to fame?: I met Bono & he called me "Bubble Gum", haha.. What do you guys do? Are you a student, working a dream job or a crappy job?: Quit my crappy job, looking for another one before returning back to school...
Name: Mindy. Yes, I was really named after the character from Mork & Mindy. Where are you from?: I spent my first 25 years in the greater Seattle area, but now Los Angeles is quasi-home. Until I get restless again. Favorite Bands/Artists: Way too many to narrow down, but I have traveled to see WAS, The Wallflowers, Pete Yorn, Flight of the Conchords, OK Go, Hot Hot Heat and Snow Patrol. Favorite song: Books: Webster's Unabridged. I always seem to go back to it. (Psst...Renee! I am currently trudging my way through Living Dead in Dallas, too! I heard it picks up again in third book.) Favorite Television Shows: Flight of the Conchords and The Daily Show rule my world. True Blood, The Soup, Top Chef, Survivor, Intervention, Project Runway and Dirty Jobs are all regulars on the ol' DVR, too. I have been known to pull out old episodes of Alias and The OC pretty frequently. Favorite Movies: I can quote A Few Good Men, So I Married An Axe Murderer, The Cutting Edge (shut up!), The Wedding Singer, Big and Office Space from beginning to end. How did you first hear about We Are Scientists?: I'm a sucker for a good cover song, so someone sent me their rendition of "End of The Road" a while ago. I remembered that when I saw that they were playing here last July, so I decided to go check them out live, but I wasn't really familiar with much more than the singles at the time. We had such a good time at the El Rey that I drove out to Pomona on a whim to see them again two nights later. It has been a very slippery slope since then... Claim to fame?: I suppose there was that one time when Borat told me that I remind him of Pamela Andersons. Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and say "Pamela Anderson's what?" BWAH! What do you guys do? Are you a student, working a dream job or a crappy job?: I have a pretty good job in the oh-so-glamorous world of corporate finance, but Loverboy still said it best: "Everybody's working for the weekend..."
